The Environmental Markets Leadership Program aims to simplify the world of natural capital and environmental markets. The program provides you with the skills, confidence and networks to identify, market and benefit from the natural capital, ecosystem services, sustainable land management and environmental services you generate and provide to society.

Land managers and farmers play an important role in producing high-quality products and services. They also play an important role in protecting, restoring and enhancing natural capital and the wider environment – we call these activities environmental services. These activities can increase productivity, resilience, sustainability and profitability whilst also providing a range of benefits and value to society. Many land managers are now in a good position to lead and drive the development of environmental markets. That’s where the Environmental Markets Leadership Program comes in…

Who should participate?

Land managers and farmers from New South Wales who want to…

  • Break down and simplify the world of environmental markets

  • Learn how to identify the natural capital assets, ecosystem services and the environmental services you generate and define ways to create income and other benefits from these

  • Feel more confident and in control to participate in, create and influence environmental markets

  • Connect, share learnings and build a network of support with peers from your region and across NSW

  • Evolve your business to maintain and enhance natural capital and ecosystem services while continuing to provide high-quality products and services

  • Future-proof land and farm risk, productivity, resilience, sustainability and profitability

What’s included?

1.      Environmental Markets Leadership Network

Be part of a supportive network of peers from your region and across NSW – share resources, knowledge, experience, challenges and successes through online social networking and facilitated online network meet-ups every three months.

2.      Environmental Markets Leadership Course

Complete a practical, hands-on learning program where you will develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to identify, market and benefit from the natural capital, ecosystem services and environmental services you generate and provide to society. Develop your environmental/carbon literacy skills so you can take advantage of every opportunity. The program provides simple information on what’s involved, what’s good to know before hand and how you can get started. The program is a combination of self-paced and scheduled activities.

3.      Environmental Markets Plan

Develop an environmental markets plan for your property and/or farm: identify natural capital, ecosystem services and environmental services on your property, identify and assess market opportunities and plan a path forward. Share and learn from peers creating their own plan alongside you. The plan is self-paced and can be completed in your own time.

4.      Market Meet-Ups & Workshops

Meet market stakeholders and understand what role they play, such as buyers, funders, assessors, certifiers, government agencies. Work with these stakeholders to explore existing, future and/or innovative market opportunities and influence policy and regulation to be more supportive, certain and predictable.

5.      Ongoing support from NSW Local Land Services and other agencies

NSW Local Land Services will be available to provide advice and information on natural resource management and sustainable agriculture.
